ਵਾਰਾਂ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ : ਵਾਰ ੨੨ ਪਉੜੀ ੮

ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤ ਜਗਾਇ ਦੀਵਾ ਬਾਲਿਆ।

ਚੰਦਨ ਵਾਸੁ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ਵਣਸਪਤਿ ਫਾਲਿਆ।

ਸਲਲੈ ਸਲਲ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਬੇਣੀ ਚਾਲਿਆ।

ਪਵਣੈ ਪਵਣੁ ਸਮਾਇ ਅਨਹਦ ਭਾਲਿਆ।

ਹੀਰੈ ਹੀਰਾ ਬੇਧਿ ਪਰੋਇ ਦਿਖਾਲਿਆ।

ਪਥਰੁ ਪਾਰਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਪਾਰਸੁ ਪਾਲਿਆ।

ਅਨਲ ਪੰਖ ਪੁਤੁ ਹੋਇ ਪਿਤਾ ਸਮ੍ਹਾਲਿਆ।

ਬ੍ਰਹਮੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਖਾਲਿਆ ॥੮॥

Jotee Joti Jagaai Deevaa Baaliaa |
As the lamp is lit from the flame of another lamp;

Chandan Vaasu Nivaasu Vanaasapati Dhaaliaa |
as sandal’s fragrance makes the whole vegetation fragrant

Salalai Salali Sanjogu Tribaynee Chaaliaa |
as the water mixing with water acquires the status of trivevi(the confluence of three rivers - Gatiga; Yamuna and Sarasvati);

Pavanai Pavanu Samaai Anahadu Bhaaliaa |
as air after meeting the vital air becomes unstruck melody;

Heerai Heeraa Baydhi Paroi Dikhaaliaa |
as a diamond being perforated by another diamond gets stringed into a necklace;

Pathharu Paarasu Hoi Paarasu Paaliaa |
a stone by becoming the philosopher’s stone performs its feat and

Anal Pankhi Putu Hoi Pitaa Samhaaliaa |
as an anil bird getting birth in the sky promotes the work of its father;

Brahamai Brahamu Milaai Sahaji Sukhaaliaa ||8 ||
likewise the Guru making the Sikh meet the Lord establishes him in the equipoise.
